Husband tried to hide out in Pennsylvania after Bronx wife murder

The unhinged hubby who allegedly murdered his wife with a machete in The Bronx was in NYPD custody Tuesday after trying to hide out in Pennsylvania, cops said.

Victor Mateo, 63, is accused of hacking his 58-year-old wife, Noelia Mateo, to death after running her over near Ellsworth and Schley avenues in Throggs Neck on Oct. 2.

Victor Mateo then took off to Hazelton, Pennsylvania, where he has family and rental properties, according to local police.

Once cops got wind of Mateo’s connection to the small Pennsylvania city — about a two-and-a-half-hour drive from the Big Apple — they set up surveillance one of Mateo’s houses, according to police.

Cops eventually caught up with him on just after 10 p.m. Oct. 10 when they spotted him driving his 2013 Hyundai Tuscan near the house on W. Tamarack Street,  according to police.

Mateo was extradited to New York on Tuesday and was charged with murder, manslaughter, acting in a manner to injure a child and criminal possession of a weapon, cops said.
