‘Year of the Rabbit’ trailer: A first look at Matt Berry’s new comedy series

Here’s your first, exclusive look at “Year of the Rabbit,” British actor/comedian Matt Berry’s upcoming IFC series.

In the series, premiering Feb. 19, 2020, Berry (“What We Do in the Shadows,” “Toast of London”) plays Detective Inspector Eli Rabbit, a boozy, sexed-up London detective in Victorian-era London who’s joined by a hapless new partner, Strauss (Freddie Fox) and Sergeant Mabel Wisbech (Susan Wokoma), the country’s first female officer — who happens to be the lewd-but-insightful adoptive daughter of the local police chief.

The six-episode first season premiered over the summer on Channel 4 in the UK.

Berry made a splash last spring in FX’s “What We Do in the Shadows” as the vampire Laszlo, living with fellow vampires (and an energy-sucking “daywalker”) in a house on Staten Island as they bicker with their neighbors and run afoul of local officials.

He also stars as blustery actor Steven Toast in the BAFTA-winning British series “Toast of London,” which airs Wednesdays at midnight on IFC.
