Three men dead in trio of fatal fires across New York City

A trio of fires broke out across the city early Monday, leaving three dead — including two under suspicious circumstances, cops said.

Firefighters were responding to a blaze inside an apartment building in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, just before 3:30 a.m. when they discovered a severely burned man — with possible puncture wounds in his neck — in the lobby, police sources said.

EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene, police said.

Police and the FDNY are investigating the cause of the fire, which they believe started in the basement of the building, sources said.

About 15 minutes earlier, the FDNY found the burned body of a man, with his hands bound behind his back, upon extinguishing a fire in an under-construction home in Queens village, police sources said. That victim too was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, an 11th-floor apartment in Co-Op City in The Bronx went up in flames around 2:45 p.m., police said.

An 85-year-old man was found unconscious inside the apartment, while firefighters discovered his 49-year-old daughter in the lobby suffering from severe smoke inhalation, police said.

The woman said she woke to her father screaming, “I’m on fire!” and called for help, sources told The Post.

Both victims were taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where the man was pronounced dead, according to cops. The woman was in stable condition.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but it does not appear to be suspicious, sources said.
