Carl H. Berry
July 24, 1940 - July 2, 2020
Carl H. Berry, of Gasport, New York, lost his third courageous battle with cancer on July 2, 2020, surrounded by his family in the home that he and Sally built.
Carl was a foreman at Western Block for 18 years, and eventually retired from the Lockport Water Department, all while having his own vehicle business for 30 years. He was very active in the community, having spent many years with the Gasport Lions Club and numerous regional car clubs.
Anyone who knew Carl, knew of his love for classic cars - driving, restoring, swapping, and building them. Carl's favorite pastimes included going to car shows, cruise nights and flea markets with Sally and their many friends. A highlight of his lifelong adventures was a trip cross country to the Pacific Ocean on Route 66 in Creamsicle, his 1933 Ford.
Carl was preceded in death by his mother, Sally Brown; and grandson, Andrew Henderson, and he was excited to see them again. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sally; his children, Eric of PA, Matt (Dorothy), and Jenny (Chris) Wieland, both of Newfane; and step-children, Tracy (Jeff) Henderson and Trevor (Elizabeth) Fragale, both of Maine. Carl was a beloved and very special, involved grandfather to several grandchildren, whether talking about cars, going to games, or exchanging banter with them. Carl tried to live strong, and he never lost his sense of humor, his laughter continuing until just hours before his passing.
There will be no visitation or memorial service. Carl was very passionate about helping others. His last quest was to donate his body to The University at Buffalo to aid in the study to fight cancer.
Due to the tremendous support of Niagara Hospice, donations can be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094. Also very important to Carl was continuing to support the fundraising organization created in the name of another cancer fighter, Meghan Redenbach. Donations can be made out to Meghan's Fund, 7825 Mill Rd, Gasport, NY 14067.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Tree Planting Timeline

Orders placed in:
