Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Tuesday arrested five members of a robbery gang, who used a rental car to commit crime. Police seized five motorcycles and a rental car from their possession.

According to sources, a team of the Commissionerate Police was checking vehicles in Khandagiri area last night during when they tried to stop a speeding car, but it did not stop at the check point. Subsequently, the cops followed the vehicle and intercepted it near Janla.

However, the miscreants managed to flee from the spot.

Later, during investigation, police nabbed a member of the gang who had hired the vehicle and then arrested four other members of the gang.

Sources said the miscreants hired cars and motorcycles from various agencies and used them for committing crimes in Nayapalli, Mancheswar and Karnadgiri areas.

"The miscreants had hired a SUV from a rental car agency. They mostly used to target bikers in the city," said Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahoo.
