Bhubaneswar: Gold bars weighing around 610 grams worth Rs 20.5 lakh were seized from a passenger at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here early morning on Wednesday.

As per reports, a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable deployed at the airtport detected suspicous activity of a passenger and later recovered two gold bars of foreign origin (Perth mint, Australia) kept hidden inside his turban after thorough inspection at the domestic SHA of Terminal 1(Frisking booth No. 02).

The passenger, Amarjeet Singh of Hastinapur, Uttar Pradesh who had arrived at BPIA from Bangkok at midnight was carrying the gold bars sealed in a black tape and tucked inside his turban. He was supposed to leave for Delhi at 5.15 am today.

The accused Singh along with the seized gold bars and other belongings were later handed over to airport Customs officials for further investigation.
