Commissionerate Police on toes to ensure safe Holi in Twin City

Cuttack/Bhubaneswar: With the festival of colours, Holi, a day ahead, the Commissionerate Police has made elaborate arrangements to prevent unruly behaviour of revellers and sale of harmful chemical colours in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. The police have also issued an advisory to ensure safe and incident-free Holi celebrations.

The Twin City Police has asked the revellers to refrain from rash driving and warned of stern action against those found violating traffic norms.

In order to ensure prevention of harmful inorganic colours, the cops are also likely to conduct surprise raids on various kiosks and shops. The CP has also asked the Pollution Control Board to deploy squads in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar to inspect the quality the colours.

“We will conduct patrolling and picketing at different strategic locations of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. ODRAF teams will be deployed in various ghats across the two cities,” said Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty.

In Bhubaneswar, as many as 15 platoons of forces and 16 special mobile patrolling teams are being deployed to prevent any untoward incidents. Besides, picketing will be conducted at 28 places and striking force along with ODRAF teams will be deployed at four sensitive places in the smart city.

At least of 10 platoons of forces and eight special mobile patrolling teams will be deployed in Cuttack. Armed picketing will be conducted at 25 places and striking forces will be engaged in two sensitive places of the millennium city, added Mohanty.

Meanwhile, lakhs of devotees thronged Puri Srimandir to offer prayers and witness special rituals on occasion of Dola Purnima today.

On the other hand, sand artist Manas Sahoo sculpted a beautiful sand art of Goddess Radha and Lord Krishna on the occasion of Dola Purnima and Holi.
