CASPER, Wyo. — I-80 closed this morning between Laramie and Rawlins due to crashes and winter conditions.

That portion of I-80 remains closed on the afternoon of Tuesday, Dec. 3. As of 11:30 am, the Wyoming Department of Transportation estimated those sections of the interstate would open in 4-6 hours.

While most traffic is allowed on portions of I-25 and I-80 near Cheyenne, some are closed to “light, high profile vehicles due to active blowovers in the area.”

I-25 and US 87 between Cheyenne and Wheatland is seeing such closures. I-80 between Laramie and Cheyenne is similarly closed to “light, high profile vehicles” but WYDOT states the reason for this is gusting winds rather than active blowovers.

US 30 between Rawlins and Medicine Bow is closed to all traffic due to winter weather conditions and crashes. Other sections of US 30 are closed to “light, high profile vehicles” between Medicine Bow and Laramie.

The section between mile marker 290 and 308 is closed to all traffic.

US 287 is closed to all traffic between Muddy Gap and Rock River. The road is closed to “light, high profile vehicles” between Rock River and Laramie. Some portions are closed to all traffic while others are only closed to “light, high profile vehicles.”

Several other closures are in effect across the state.

Full road condition information is available from WYDOT.
