OKLAHOMA CITY — A major announcement from Gov. Kevin Stitt and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation saying Oklahoma is now in the top 10 ranking for state highway bridge report.
The state was as low as 49th place in 2004 in national bridge conditions ranking due to the number of structurally deficient bridges on the state highway system.
Gov. Stitt said we’re now at ninth place in the country.
That's according to the latest data from the Federal Highway Administration.
“Just put this in perspective, in 2004 there were 168 structurally deficient highway bridges. Now, there are currently 86 structurally deficient bridges with plans to address each and every one of them,” said Gov. Stitt.
The value of the highway system in Oklahoma is $60 billion, making it Oklahoma’s number one physical asset.
