Oklahoma Scene: OSU wrestler Daton Fix earns spot on US team

Oklahoma State wrestler Daton Fix beat former Iowa standout Thomas Gilman two bouts to one at Final X on Saturday night in Lincoln, Nebraska to earn the 57 kilogram spot on the United States men’s freestyle World Championship team.

Gilman beat Fix last year at Final X, the qualifying series that determines who competes for Team USA.

Fix scored a late takedown Saturday to seal a gritty win and avenge last year's defeat.

Late Saturday: OKC Dodgers rout Chihuahuas 11-3

Shane Peterson homered, doubled and singled twice, scoring three runs as the Oklahoma City Dodgers beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 11-3 in the series opener Saturday night in El Paso, Texas.

Will Smith homered and singled with two runs for Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma City batted around in the first inning, sending 11 batters to the plate and scoring six runs, including a two-run home run by Zach Reks.
