Livestock report from the Oklahoma City Stockyards: Oklahoma Weekly Cattle Auction Summary Livestock Weighted Average Report for the week of Aug. 19 through Thursday.

Compared to last week: Combined weighted average for seven auctions: Ada, Apache, McAlester, Oklahoma City, OKC West, Tulsa, and Woodward. Feeder steers $2-$6 higher. Feeder heifers mostly $3-$6 higher. Demand moderate to good. Steer and heifer calves not well tested. Slaughter cows mostly steady. Slaughter bulls sold $1-$2 higher. Demand moderate. Temperatures were in triple digits at the beginning of the week, but some rain and thunderstorms have made their way across the trade region at the end of this week bringing some much needed relief. Supply included: 86% Feeder Cattle (50% Steers, 43% Heifers, 7% Bulls); 8% Slaughter Cattle (87% Cows, 13% Bulls); 6% Replacement Cattle (80% Bred Cows, 7% Bred Heifers, 13% Cow-Calf Pairs, 0% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 62%.

SLAUGHTER CATTLE

Slaughter cattle mostly $1 higher on a live basis throughout all regions. Nebraska too lightly tested with a much higher undertone noted on a dressed basis. Slaughter cattle on a national basis for negotiated cash trades through Friday afternoon totaled 54,197 head. Last week's total head count was 53,750 head.

Federally Inspected Cattle: 654,000 head up 1.9 percent from a year ago.

USDA'S cattle on Feed Report

Cattle on feed as of August 1, 2019 totaled 11.1 million head, 100.2 percent of a year ago. Placements of cattle in the feedlots during July totaled 1.71 million head, 98 percent of a year ago. Cattle weighing under 600 lbs. 21 percent of the total placements; 600-700 lbs. 15 percent; 700-800 lbs. 24 percent; 800-900 lbs. were 23 percent; over 900 lbs. were 17 percent of the total placements. Marketing's of fed cattle during the month of July totaled 2.0 million, 107 percent of a year ago. Western Cornbelt Direct Lean Hog Base Price: Weighted average price of packers bids on a carcass basis delivered to packing plants as of Friday was $63.71.

Beef: 528.7 million lbs. up 0.4 percent from a year ago.
