Moore girls basketball coach Brent Hodges has seen players reach 1,000 career points before but not during their junior season.

That's what his star Aaliyah Moore accomplished Friday. After a 16-point outing in an 81-63 win against Edmond Santa Fe, the talented junior surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career with plenty of games left to go.

"It's special for any player to reach that mark, even with her accolades," Hodges said. "It's pretty special when this happens. Doing it during her junior year is the more impressive part."

ESPN ranks Moore as the country's No. 7 prospect in the 2021 class. The five-star recruit is uncommitted to college but has offers from all over the country. She won a gold medal this summer with Team USA in the FIBA U16 Americas championship.

Ashanti Day, who committed to Newman University, paced the Lions (9-3) with 23 points.

Moore hosts Norman North on Tuesday before hosting the John Nobles Invitational, which begins Thursday.
