Today's featured event:

See the Oklahoma filmmaker Cacky Poarch's documentary “Faces of the 47th: The Art of Activism” as it screens for one night only at 7 tonight at Rodeo Cinema, 2221 Exchange Ave.

As previously reported, the film made its world premiere at the 2019 deadCenter Film Festival, and Poarch's passion project literally puts a face on the issue of Oklahoma education funding.

The documentary details self-described "scrappy mom" Sarah Agee’s activism after the 2018 Oklahoma teacher walkout as she uses public art to encourage pro-education voting.

As previously reported, a group of state artists last year launched "Faces of the 47th," a large-scale art installation that went up in various cities across Oklahoma. Started shortly after the 2018 state teacher walkout, the mural project was designed to raise awareness of the state's rank of 47th nationally in overall educational funding.

The screening is free to Rodeo Cinema members and educators with their school identification badge.
