Dayton Wolfe has looked sharp in Westmoore’s opening week of practices.

The star quarterback tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee last year but is healthy and confident heading into his senior season.

“Taking over right where he left off,” coach Lorenzo Williams said. “He’s gotten better.”

Wolfe completed 65% of his passes for 2,283 yards and 27 scores last year. The 6-foot, 200-pounder threw just two interceptions and also had five rushing touchdowns for the Jaguars, who opened with a 6-1 record before losing three straight games and missing the playoffs.

Although the injury shortened Wolfe’s season, he didn’t let it affect his drive to improve.

“I think sometimes when guys get hurt, they can take it two different ways,” Williams said. “They can take it the way where they’re doom and gloom and that kind of thing, or they can take it as an opportunity to get some mental reps and build their knowledge of the game. I think Dayton definitely took the mental reps and built his knowledge of the game.”
