A Findlay Creek woman in her 60s suffered life-threatening burns to most of her body Thursday when her clothing caught fire while she was lighting a scented candle.
First responders were called to a residence in the city’s south end at about 9:30 p.m.
Firefighters initiated care of the badly burned woman until paramedics arrived.
Paramedics used dressings and analgesics for pain relief at the scene and en route to The Ottawa Hospital burn centre.

She arrived at the centre in critical condition, paramedics said.
A man in his 40s was taken to hospital with less severe burns to his hands, suffered while trying to put out the flames.
Another man in his 60s was also transported to hospital for “a medical complication” following the event.
