The Concord Senior Center is a designated Cooling Center when temperatures rise above 100 degrees. Even if the mercury doesn’t hit 100 this week, the City’s Cooling Center will open on Wednesday, June 3 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The maximum capacity for the cooling center is 50.Older adults are vulnerable to heat illness, especially if they have heart disease or high blood pressure or take medications for depression or insomnia.

The Concord Senior Center, located at 2727 Parkside Circle in John Baldwin Park, offers an area for people to cool off from the high temperatures. However, none of the traditional Senior Center activities are being offered at this time as a result of the County’s current shelter-at-home order.
