CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — U.S. Rep. Mark DeSaulnier is slated to hold a town-hall meeting this week. The topic? Immigration. The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at Meadow Homes Elementary School in Concord.

Twice in recent weeks, the Democratic congressman who resides in Concord has visited detention facilities at the United States' southern border with Mexico. Thursday night, DeSaulnier will give a first-hand account of what he witnessed during those visits.

Translation services will be available during the town hall, which is the second such meeting DeSaulnier is holding to discuss immigration issues with constituents. The first was held Aug. 5 in Richmond and was filled to capacity.

A panel of experts will join him to discuss "the Administration’s attacks on immigrant communities, including its changes to asylum law, fight to put a citizenship question in the Census, and recently launched raids," the congressman's staff wrote in the release.
