Knife-Wielding Man Tries To Rob Concord Restaurant: Police

Concord police say the suspect, who did not get away with any cash, was not found in an extensive search of the area.

CONCORD, CA — A would-be robber is sought after Concord police say he brandished a knife Saturday night at Round Table Pizza but was not successful in getting any cash from the restaurant.

The attempted armed robbery was reported at 9:46 p.m. at the restaurant located in the 5300 block of Ygnacio Valley Road in the Clayton Valley Shopping Center, Concord police Lt. Sam Staten said in a news release.

"The male suspect went into the business with his face covered, brandished a knife at the employee and demanded the money from the register," Staten said. "The employee confronted the suspect who ran from the business with no cash."

An "extensive search" was conducted in the surrounding neighborhoods but the suspect was not located, the lieutenant said.

No one was injured in the incident, according to police.

The suspect is described as a man of unknown race who was approximately 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was armed with a knife and was wearing a green sweatshirt, dark-colored pants and had a dark-colored shirt wrapped around his face, police said.
