New Coronavirus Deaths: 7th Straight Day In CoCo: Concord

The health department is now reporting how many deaths have happened in each city. Concord has the highest toll in Contra Costa.

CONCORD, CA — Contra Costa County continues to refine its reporting on the coronavirus pandemic and its toll. The latest statistics show a breakdown of how many deaths have happened in each city. Concord has the highest death toll with 37 people losing their battle with COVID-19 complications. All but 2 of the deaths happened in a long term care facility (LTCF).

Overall, there have been 127 deaths in Contra Costa since the start of the pandemic, and Monday was the seventh straight day that new deaths were reported. The two deaths on Monday bring the 7-day toll to 23.

Two-thirds of deaths in the county have been in long term care facilities.

Concord has now reported 932 confirmed cases of coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, with 269 of those cases in the past 14 days.

The number of people being tested for coronavirus in the county has fallen sharply since mid-July. On July 20, more than 2,500 people got a test. On Aug. 2, it was fewer than 500.
