When Your Car 'Meows,' Who Ya Gonna Call? Fremont PD

Four, engine-trapped kittens rescued after a motorist on drive to work heard mewing from vehicle.

FREMONT, CA — What to do when your vehicle "meows" on the drive to work?

If you live in Fremont, luckily, like resident Angira, you can flag down police, whose officers worked to free four kittens that somehow became trapped in the individual's car motor.

Angira was on a commute to work this week when detecting "a mew coming inside my car after I drove .5 miles," the resident told the Fremont Police Department. "I parked the car and could not see anything but heard the mew of a kitten coming from my engine and realized there were kittens inside my engine."

The resident surmised that due to a recent drop in temperatures, a mama cat either gave birth to the litter inside the car or later put them there.

After pulling over and parking, Angira flagged down a cop car, with two officers inside, Tsai and Sun, who then called animal services.

"They all together could get the four kittens out after almost two hours of trying hard," the local said.

The resident made a point to praise the local officers, who went "above and beyond to get those kittens out," including officers Tsai, Sun, Tucker and Blanchet and Nicolls.

Officials said experienced foster families are sought for these kittens. Those interested can email animalservices@fremont.gov.
