Murder-Suicide Presumed In Richmond Couple's Deaths

A fundraising effort is underway to help relatives caring for the husband and wife's three children.

RICHMOND, CA — A suspected murder-suicide was reported Tuesday in Richmond, a police sergeant said.

Officers responded around 9 a.m. Tuesday to a 911 call reporting a possible dead person at a home in the 700 block of Thomas Drive and arrived to find a woman dead from multiple trauma wounds and a man dead from a single gunshot wound, police Sgt. Aaron Pomeroy said.

The victims have been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner's office as Erick Magallon Izquierdo, 33, and Claudia Justiniani Mendoza, 28, both of Richmond.

According to police, the pair were married and had children, but were in the process of a separation. The children were not harmed or present at the home when the killings occurred.

A Facebook fundraiser has been set up to help the family and had
raised more than $2,400 as of Friday afternoon.
