PLANTSVILLE, CT — Continued uncertainty over the coronavirus pandemic has prompted officials of the Connecticut Sports Writers' Alliance (CSWA) to again reschedule the date of the 79th Gold Key Dinner. The event is now slated for Sunday, May 2, 2021 at the Aqua Turf Club in the Plantsville section of Southington.

The dinner had originally been scheduled for April 26, then June 14 and ultimately Oct. 18 before being pushed back to next spring. The lack of a definitive date for restrictions on indoor dining and banquet facilities to be eased factored into the decision to postpone the event.

First celebrated in 1940, the Gold Key Dinner honors Connecticut sportspersons of the past and present. The Gold Key itself, one of the most prestigious athletic awards in the state, is presented to athletes, coaches and administrators who have made longstanding, significant contributions to Connecticut's rich athletic heritage.
