If you have weekend plans, hopefully it's scheduled for Saturday. Saturday looks like a nice winter day, sunshine and temps in the low 40s. Sunday doesn't look good with lots of rain and possibly ice in inland and northern sections of Connecticut.

The rain/ice won't begin until late Saturday. Up to an inch and a half of rain is expected through Sunday evening and winds are expected to be gusty too, especially on Monday.

The National Weather Service says, "Friday will be cooler, but still a few degrees above normal, with highs in the 40s and overnight lows generally ranging from the 20s to the lower 30s....The next chance for any precipitation will be late in the day Saturday and continuing into Sunday as a frontal system approaches. Precipitation will generally be in the form of rain (for Southern Connecticut."

But in northern parts of the state, a Hazardous Weather Outlook has already been issued in advance of this weekend's storm. "A wintry mess is forecast across much of Southern New England. A brief burst of snow and sleet followed by a longer period of freezing rain, especially across the interior and away from the coastline. Greater concern is ice accretion on all surfaces beginning Saturday night into the first-half of Sunday. Hazardous travel impacts. At times, reductions to visibility."

And also in northern sections of the state from Sunday night through Monday night you can expect "Strong, damaging winds, especially around Monday. Forecasting wind gusts of 35 to 45 mph, possibly in excess of 50 mph. Anticipated impacts of power outages and blocked roadways due to downed trees and/or tree limbs. Wind headlines are likely."
