Five Men Sue Bridgeport Diocese Over Priest Abuse Allegations

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport was sued by five men who claimed they were abused by priests decades ago.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Five lawsuits were filed claiming that five men were abused as children by three Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport priests. The alleged abuse occurred between the 1970's and 1990's.

Three of the men claim they were abused by now-deceased Rev. Walter Coleman between the 1970's and 1980's, according to the Connecticut Post.

Another man claimed he was abused by the Rev. Robert Morrissey in the 1990's and another man said he was abused by the Rev. Larry Jensen. To sign up for Bridgeport breaking news alerts and more, click here.

A spokesman for the diocese said Coleman and Morrissey were removed from the ministry after credible abuse allegations.
