Officer Saves Suicidal Man About To Jump

A Hartford cop intervened when a man was about to jump off a bridge.

HARTFORD, CT — An officer is being credited for his heroic actions in saving a man was about to jump off a bridge. Police received a call that an emotionally disturbed man was vowing to jump off the bridge at 200 Columbus Blvd.

Officer Jim Barrett arrived on his bike and met with the man, who was positioned over the railing overlooking the traffic-filled roadway below.

"Officer Barrett moved in quickly, effectively pulling the man back over the railing to safety," police said on Twitter.
