Trooper Injured In I-84 East Hartford Crash
The trooper was assisting a disabled vehicle when he was rear-ended by an operator who lost control of his vehicle, police said.
EAST HARTFORD, CT — A State Police trooper and another motorist sustained minor injuries after a crash on I-84 late Tuesday night.
The trooper had parked in the right shoulder behind a disabled vehicle and a tow truck with his emergency lights activated in the area of exit 59.
Another vehicle traveling in the right lane from I-384 west to I-84 west lost control and veered into the right shoulder, police said. It collided with the police cruiser. Both vehicles were disabled and had to be towed from the scene.

The trooper and other operated involved in the crash sustained minor injuries and were transported to Hartford Hospital. They have since been released.
The other operator, an 18-year-old man from Windsor, was found at fault and was issued infractions for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, traveling too fast for conditions, operating a motor vehicle with unsafe tires and failure to wear a safety belt.
