100 Best Public Elementary Schools In Connecticut for 2020

CONNECTICUT — Niche.com released what it says are the top 100 public elementary schools for the 2019-20 school year. And it's fair to assume after reviewing the list that they are big fans of New Canaan and Westport's elementary schools.

New Canaan takes the top two spots, and three of the top four, and Westport has four entrants in the top 10. Once again, Fairfield and Hartford counties dominate the rankings. The first non-Fairfield and Hartford county school to crack the list was Niantic Center School in East Lyme at No. 33.

For the second year in a row, East School in New Canaan is No. 1, according to Niche.com.

How did Niche.com arrive at its rankings? The authors say, "The 2020 Best Public Elementary Schools ranking is based on rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of reviews from students and parents using data from the U.S. Department of Education. Ranking factors include state test scores, student-teacher ratio, student diversity, teacher quality, grade school ratings, and the overall quality of the school district.
