WEST HARTFORD, CT — Election Day for local office candidates is fast approaching on Nov. 5, and with that comes the inevitable letters to the editor.

West Hartford Patch has established some basic rules to which letter writers must adhere:

  • Patch Media welcomes letters to the editor on local and statewide topics, and reserves the right to edit letters for brevity or clarity.
  • Acceptable letters regarding political candidates will refer to the positive qualities of the candidate; letters which are mainly negativity toward a candidate's opponent will be edited or unpublished.
  • Please focus letters on local races.
  • Email letters, including the writer's name, address and phone, to tim.jensen@patch.com.
  • Deadline for letters is Oct. 31; letters received after that date will not be published.
  • From now through the election, just one letter per writer will be accepted for publication consideration.
