Westport 'Capture-A-Cop' With Middle Schoolers Sept. 15

The annual Westport Middle School Capture-The-Flag Tournament will be held on Jesup Green.

(City of Westport)

City of Westport: The Westport Youth Commission and Westport Police Department are hosting their annual Westport Middle School Capture-The-Flag Tournament on Jesup Green in downtown Westport on Sunday, September 15 at 3:30 pm.

Modeled after the popular Dodge-A-Cop event at Staples High School each November, Capture-A-Cop brings local middle school students together with a group of Westport’s finest (police officers) in a friendly and playful atmosphere. Over the years, the Westport Police Department, in collaboration with the Westport Youth Commission and Human Services Department, have established several popular police-youth programs in an effort to build positive relationships between young people and officers outside of an enforcement setting. Program participants, both young and old, report a greater sense of connection with one another and come away with a better understanding of community resources and supports, because of these events.

Middle school students are invited to gather their friends and head to Jesup Green next Sunday to see who’s got the most elusive flag capturing moves.
