Leadership Greater Hartford Announces Windsor Resident, Chris Duffy, New President & CEO

Leadership Greater Hartford (LGH), a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing, connecting and inspiring diverse leaders to build strong and vibrant communities, announces its new President & CEO: Chris Duffy will take over the helm of the 43-year old community leadership organization.

LGH Board of Directors proudly announces that Chris Duffy will succeed retiring president Ted Carroll at the beginning of July. The search process to find a new President and CEO was a collaborative effort stewarded by Executive Talent Services, LLC and a search committee comprised of community stakeholders. Tisa Rabun-Marshall, LGH Board Chair and Search Committee Co-Chair, shared that “I am very excited for LGH's future under the leadership of Chris. His passion and dedication to our region, plus his extensive background in business and civic organizations made him our top choice. Chris has great respect for Ted's legacy, and our board looks forward to the vision he can help us shape for the journey ahead."

Prior to owning his own leadership consulting practice, Amplify Leadership Partners, Duffy spent years in leadership roles in the corporate sector, first with GE, graduating from their leadership program, and then with Travelers. Duffy serves the next generation of leaders as an adjunct leadership and psychology professor at Eastern Connecticut State University and Goodwin University. He recently worked with the Hartford chapter of the Obama Foundation’s Community Leadership Corps. Duffy holds a Master of Arts degree in organizational psychology with a specialization in change leadership from Columbia University and Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from Drexel University. Duffy graduated from LGH’s flagship leadership program, Quest, in 2011 and was a 2017 Hartford Business Journal’s 40 Under Forty honoree.

Duffy brings a demonstrated passion for community leadership - an attribute that is synonymous with the mission of LGH. He is a local volunteer firefighter and EMT for Windsor and currently serves on the board of directors for Capitol Region Council of Governments Foundation. He previously served on the boards of Leadership Greater Hartford, Connecticut Association for Human Services, Drexel University’s Steinbright Career Development Center, and the executive team of Hartford Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs (HYPE). In Duffy’s own words, “It is an honor to be selected to carry the torch after Ted, a great leader and someone I've personally admired for nearly a decade. “With the pandemic causing the systemic gaps to widen, along with the re-emergence of broken trust within some communities, these are challenging times. But, it is also an invitation for us to define a new tomorrow in which we can co-create how to be a better organization and community. Obviously effective leadership will make this happen, and LGH is well poised to play a key role. The next generation is depending on us.”

Ted Carroll has served as President and CEO of LGH for the past 35 years. He shared his enthusiasm for the board’s choice: “I could not be more pleased and proud than to hand the reins of leadership over to someone with the vision, energy, skill and commitment that Chris demonstrates. I have every confidence that - working with our board, staff and many partners - Chris will lead LGH to its next level of impact in the community.”
