Flash Flood Warning Issued For District Of Columbia

The flash flood warning issued by the National Weather Service for Wednesday will run until 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A flash flood warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for Wednesday until 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Affected communities include the District of Columbia, southeastern Montgomery County, northwestern Prince Georges County, Arlington County, Fairfax County, Central Prince William County, the city of Fairfax, the city of Falls Church, the city of Manassas Park, the city of Manassas and the city of Alexandria.

At 5:13 p.m. Eastern Time, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. The heaviest rain has ended, but creeks and streams continue to rise due to runoff from previous rainfall.
