WASHINGTON, DC β€” A 15-year-old girl was arrested on an assault with intent to kill charge after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed aboard a Metro train at the Capitol South station Friday afternoon, according to a report.

The Washington Post reports that the assault happened at 12:37 p.m. as the Orange Line train approached the station. Video posted on social media showed youths running in one direction and police officers rushing in the other direction.

The victim apparently stumbled out of the train and collapsed near the fare gates while bleeding from the neck, according to the report.

The attack came as D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and Police Chief Peter Newsham were at Howard University announcing a new crime initiative. They reportedly left the event after receiving word of the stabbing.

The Metro station was shut down for hours as police investigated. It was reopened around 6 p.m.
