WASHINGTON, DC -- Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is no stranger to saying things that make others bristle, but she made perhaps her most controversial comment in D.C. to date recently: she praised the Metro.

"DC Metro is pretty good, especially when compared to the MTA lately," she wrote on Instagram. "It's clear they are investing in public infrastructure w/modernized train cars, etc."

She backtracked a little after locals who were tired of the system's constant delays and safety concerns spoke up.

"Lots of folks begging to differ on DC metro being better," she wrote. "I just got here so taking the train on a Sunday without a delay or track change or 1000 people in the car seems like a minor miracle to me."

She noted that there were some issues with the Metro, including no monthly unlimiteds, charging by the distance, no express trains, and a need for infrastructure investment.
