WASHINGTON, DC — The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flooding Warning for the D.C. shoreline Friday, and the warning lasts until 2 a.m. on Saturday.

NWS says tidal departure will be around two feet above normal, and it will be at its worst around the time of high tide, which is at 7:41 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday morning.

"One to two feet of inundation above ground level is possible," the alert states. "The unprotected area on the Southwest Waterfront at the DC Seafood Market is expected to flood. Water is expected to approach parts of the Hains Point Loop Road, but it will likely be closed."

NWS advises residents in the affected area to be alert for rising water and take appropriate action.
