WASHINGTON, DC -- Commuters and tourists are going to have to find alternative routes to the National Mall most of Friday, Jan. 24 as the Smithsonian Metrorail Station will be closed through the early afternoon hours due to the March For Life 2020 rally.

President Donald Trump said he was going to attend the rally and the U.S. Secret Service requested the station be temporarily closed for security considerations.

During the closure, all Orange, Blue and Silver lines will not stop at the station. Instead, they will continue on to the next stop. Those planning on attending the rally should exit at the L’Enfant Plaza Station, which is located approximately 0.5 miles from Smithsonian Station via Independence Avenue, S.W.
