DC Man Charged In July 13 Homicide: Police

WASHINGTON, DC — Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department arrested a Southeast man Tuesday in connection with the July 13 fatal shooting of a District man, according to a police release. MPD identified the deceased victim as 27-year-old Senquea Whitley of Northeast.

Around 2:05 p.m., on July 13, officers from the Sixth District responded to the intersection of Minnesota Avenue and Clay Place, Northeast, for the report of a shooting. They found Whitley in the 3900 block of Clay Place, N.E., suffering from gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS determined the Whitley showed no signs of life and later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant Tuesday, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Rashad Johnson, 20, of Southeast. They charged him with first degree murder while armed. When Johnson was arrested, he was under the supervision by the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency. He has a previous arrest for carrying a pistol without a license.
