Video: Final Arch Of Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge Installed
Construction crews installed the final piece to the last arch in the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge project Thursday.
WASHINGTON, DC β Construction crews with the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) Thursday installed the final piece of the final arch of the new Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge on South Capitol Street. The $441 million renovation protect of the 70-year-old bridge over the Anacostia River is due to be completed in the spring of 2022.

The new bridge construction is part of the city's Anacostia Waterfront Initiative (AWI) program, which aims to transform the shore of the river from the Tidal Basin to the District's northeast border with Maryland.
