Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of year where family and friends gather together to appreciate what and who they have around them. That also means lots of closures throughout the week, and sometimes it's hard to tell what's open and what's closed on what days. Is that office closed just on Thursday, or Friday as well?

Government offices, libraries, schools, museums, rec centers, and businesses all have their own opening and closing hours during this holiday week. We break down how it shakes out for residents of D.C. below.

D.C. government offices: Closed Thursday

DMV: Closed Thursday and Friday, regular operations will resume Saturday for D.C. DMV locations that are typically open on Saturdays

Smithsonian Museums: Open on Thanksgiving

Metrorail: On Nov. 22, Metrorail will operate on a Sunday schedule from 8 a.m.-11 p.m. There is no track work scheduled for Nov. 22-23. For more information, visit www.wmata.com.
