Atlanta Schools Make Decision On Dec. 11 Schedule

BREAKING: The National Weather Service said several metro Atlanta counties could have black ice on roadways early Tuesday morning.

ATLANTA, GA β€” The Atlanta Public School System said it will open on a two-hour delay on Tuesday, Dec. 11 due to the threat of black ice that is expected around metro Atlanta.

Elementary schools will open at 10 am; middle schools will open at 11:05 am; and high schools will open at 10:30 am. Transportation pick up times will be delayed two hours from normal pick up schedules. All dismissal times will remain the same.

Facilities staff should report at 9 a.m. APS District administrative offices are also on a two-hour delay and APS employees should report two hours later than their normal reporting time.

A light rain is expected to fall over Atlanta Monday afternoon into the evening. Temperatures could then briefly dip below freezing, possibly causing black ice, especially on bridges and overpasses.

The National Weather Service issued a warning indicating that several metro Atlanta counties may have black ice on roadways as temperatures plunge below freezing early Tuesday morning.
