ATLANTA, GA — A new clinic for uninsured adults is now open in East Atlanta, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The drop-in center is located at 1976 Flat Shoals Road. It’ll be open for medical and mental health services every Tuesday and Thursday.

Mercy Care and the Atlanta-based nonprofit CHRIS 180, which provides “trauma-informed” health services and care, will operate the clinic.

The two organizations say they hope to serve 600 patients in year one. Women’s health screenings, STD and HIV testing, and breast cancer and cervical cancer screening will be offered.

More than $15 million was raised in 2019 through a campaign launched by CHRIS 180 to fund the clinic.

“Several years ago we recognized the need to have primary health services in East Atlanta, where there are limited options and resources for our neighbors,” Kathy Colbenson, the president and CEO of the nonprofit, said in a statement to the outlet.
