Aurora Man Sentenced To 13 Years For Child Sex Assaults
Police say he committed the sex assaults against two young girls over a 13-year period.
AURORA, IL — An Aurora man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting two children, one of whom was under 13 years old at the time. Police say Mauricio Herrera, 42, of the first block of north Anderson Street, pleaded guilty to felony counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse that took place between 2003 and 2016.
One of the victims told her older sister, who informed police, which started the investigation that led to Herrera's arrest.
"The sibling who called police when she learned of Mr. Herrera's sexual abuse toward her sisters should be proud. Her bravery stopped years of abuse and ensured that Mr. Herrera was sent to prison, where he belongs," Kane County State's Attorney Joe McMahon said in a statement.
