BOLINGBROOK, IL — A Missouri man has been charged with child abduction and violating a court custody order when he took his 12-year-old child from Bolingbrook out of state, according to police. After being reported as missing, the child has been reunited with a guardian, Bolingbrook Police said.

In the afternoon of Sept. 30, Bolingbrook Police received a report of a missing 12-year-old. Police were told the child never got on the school bus and did not attend school that day, the department said.

Detectives determined that the child was taken by his father, Laurin McPhee, to Independence, Missouri, where the man lives, court records show. McPhee did not have authorization to take the child, and in doing so was violating a court order of custody, police said.
