FRANKFORT, IL — The number of Frankfort's coronavirus cases increased by seven cases over the past week, according to data from the Will County Health Department. Frankfort (ZIP code 60423) has 124 cases as of May 27, compared to 117 cases on May 20, which represents a 5.9 percent increase in the past week.

IDPH is also reporting a total of 1,259 tests have been performed for ZIP code 60423.

In nearby towns in the Lincoln-Way area, both Mokena (ZIP code 60448) and New Lenox (ZIP code 60451) have fewer cases, with 113 and 103 cases, respectively, as of May 27. Manhattan (ZIP code 60442) has 38 cases, according to data from the county health department.

Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox reported a slight increase of coronavirus inpatients at the hospital when compared to the week previous, according to data provided to Patch. As of May 21, the hospital told Patch it has 33 patients who have tested positive for the coronavirus and 12 persons under investigation.

Restaurants and bars can also reopen in Phase 3 if they can secure outdoor seating that maintains proper social distancing. In the coming days, Patch will be compiling a list with information on restaurants offering outdoor dining in Frankfort.

As of Wednesday, Illinois' coronavirus case count was 114,306 and the coronavirus has claimed the lives of 5,083 Illinois residents. Health authorities do not provide the number of deaths by municipality. In Will County, there are 5,301 cases of the coronavirus and 264 related deaths.
