FRANKFORT, IL — The number of Frankfort's coronavirus cases increased by seven cases over the past week, according to data from the Will County Health Department. Frankfort (ZIP code 60423) has 134 cases as of June 3, compared to 124 cases on May 27, which represents an 8 percent increase.

In nearby towns in the Lincoln-Way area, both Mokena (ZIP code 60448) and New Lenox (ZIP code 60451) have fewer cases, with 120 and 111 cases, respectively, as of June 3. Manhattan (ZIP code 60442) has 42 cases, according to data from the county health department.

Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox reported a decrease of coronavirus inpatients once again at the hospital when compared to last week, according to data provided to Patch. As of May 29, the hospital told Patch it has 26 inpatients who have tested positive for the coronavirus and 11 persons under investigation.
Many restaurants in Frankfort have now opened outdoor seating and dining since the state has moved to phase 3 of the Restore Illinois plan.
As of Wednesday, Illinois' coronavirus case count was 123,830 and the coronavirus has claimed the lives of 5,621 Illinois residents. Health authorities do not provide the number of deaths by municipality. In Will County, there are 5,730 cases of the coronavirus and 283 related deaths.
