Armed Robbery At Frankfort Gas Station: Suspects Fled Scene

Two robbers threatened the clerk with a screwdriver, police said.

FRANKFORT, IL — Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred early Tuesday morning in Frankfort Township, the Will County Sheriff's Office said. Deputies were called to Speedway gas station, 7218 W. Lincoln Highway, at 3:12 a.m. Tuesday.

Police said when deputies arrived they spoke to the store clerk who said she saw two black males, in their early 60s, enter the store. One of the men, wearing a black hat, black coat, jeans and a button-up denim shirt, began walking around the store. The second man, wearing a black hat, black jumpsuit with white stripes down the arms and legs, went to the restroom.

The clerk told police the first man came to the counter to buy cigars, and the second man came behind the counter and placed a screwdriver to the clerk's back. Police said the clerk was then told to lie on the floor, while the men robbed the store of an undisclosed amount of cash and multiple packs of cigarettes.
