New Lenox Man Charged After Knocking Woman Down On Trail: Cops

Through their investigation, police said they learned the attack was sexually motivated.

FRANKFORT, IL — A New Lenox man has been charged with aggravated battery after knocking down a woman Sunday on the Old Plank Road Trail near Elsner Road, police said. Anthony Carbone, 18, was charged with aggravated battery and taken to the Will County Jail.

Authorities said the incident happened around 7 a.m. Sunday when the victim was intentionally knocked down, causing her to fall and causing abrasions on her knees and shins. According to police, the victim asked Carbone what he was doing and he ran from the scene. An officer was able to locate him near Old Plank Road Trail and Wolf Road.

Through their investigation, police said they learned the attack was sexually motivated. However, Carbone became startled and immediately fled after knocking the victim to the ground.

Police reminded residents to always be aware of surroundings when outside, not to use headphones that restrict your ability to hear the environment, and go in groups if possible. The Frankfort Police Department said it will continue to patrol the Plank Trail within its jurisdiction.
