FRANKFORT, IL — A fire was reported at a two-story commercial building on Wednesday in Frankfort, the Mokena Fire Protection District said. The district responded at 7:44 p.m. Wednesday after a fire alarm in the 9600 block of Lincoln Way Lane in the Crown Centre shopping plaza, which houses 17 different units.

Firefighters arrived at the scene at 7:49 p.m., and found the fire alarm and sprinkler system activated, with smoke showing on the commercial building. The district said the first crew entered the unit where the fire started and found that three sprinkler heads had activated and were containing the fire from spreading further.

Firefighters launched an offensive fire attack and the fire was quickly extinguished, the district said. The unit where the fire started was a small retail business, The Dressing Room, and was unoccupied, but did take fire damage. There was also some smoke damage in the adjoining units.
