The district discussed student growth, test scores and a facility plan for Chelsea.

FRANKFORT, IL — At its board meeting Jan. 15, the district gave a presentation on the state of the district. The presentation shared test results, master plans, demographics and student growth.

According to the presentation, the district has seen a 2.6 percent increase in enrollment over the last five years. From fiscal year 2019 to fiscal year 2020, the district saw a .8 percent increase, or 22 students.

One of the items the district shared during its presentation is the master plan for Chelsea School. The board created a facility master plan for Chelsea in June 2019, also did a capacity study in November 2019. The board's next step is a conceptual design plan. Several options are being considered for the facility, including, heavy renovation within the existing footprint; heavy renovation with an addition; or a new building, according to the presentation.

The presentation also discussed the integration of technology in the district. According to the presentation, in 2009, the district had 905 devices and spent $267,508. In 2019, the district has 2,300 devices and has spent $341,680.

The state of the district also showed data from the FastBridge fall 2019 assessment. According to the presentation, 78 percent of Grand Prairie students are performing on target; 89 percent of students at Chelsea are on target; and 91 percent of students at Hickory Creek are on target. 40 percent of students with IEPs are also meeting or exceeding standards in ELA; and 38 percent of students with IEPs are also meeting or exceeding standards in math.

The district also shared that all three District 157-C schools were rated exemplary by the state in 2019.
