Employee Held At Gunpoint During Frankfort Township Robbery: Cops

Police said the two men took Newport cigarettes and under $60 from the register.

FRANKFORT, IL — Two men robbed a Frankfort Township gas station Friday and held a gun to an employee's face, the Will County Sheriff's Office said. Deputies were called to Shell/Circle K gas station, 7654 Lincoln Highway, in Frankfort Township at 5 a.m. Friday.

When deputies arrived, police said they spoke to a female employee at the gas station who said she was standing behind the counter when two men entered the store. The two men were black, with black masks over their faces, and both were holding guns and bags.

According to police, the employee tried to run to the back office and close the door, but she was followed by one of the men. The man held a gun to her face as he grabbed her, threatened her life, struck her in the back of the head, and made her get on the floor.

Police said the two men took Newport cigarettes and under $60 from the register. The men fled in a newer model, black Dodge Charger.

The employee was checked on-site by Frankfort Fire Protection District, but she refused further medical assistance. Police said this incident is under investigation and video surveillance is being reviewed.
