Flooding Reported In Frankfort After 5 Inches Of Rain

5 inches of rain was reported in the area, and more rain is expected Saturday and Sunday.

FRANKFORT, IL — Thunderstorms and torrential rain caused flooding throughout Frankfort, closed many area roads and even caused power outages in some towns. According to the National Weather Service, radar estimates and surface rainfall measurements indicate 3-8" of rain fell roughly along the I-80 corridor.

The heaviest rainfall amounts so far recorded include: 8.03 inches in Channahon, 7.87 inches in Peotone and 7.61 inches in Seneca.

Frankfort wasn't listed on the NWS' rain reports, but in the last 24 hours, New Lenox received 5.27 inches of rain and Mokena received 5.13 inches of rain.
